Let's start with what Jesus had to say about the church.
In the Great Commandment, Jesus said, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart... soul... and mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it. Love your neighbor as yourself. All the law and the prophets hang on these two commandments." Matthew 22:37-40
Continuing in the Great Commission, he said, "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." Matthew 28:19-20
From these scriptures Cedar Grove Community Church derives its purposes.
- To love God with all your heart is Worship.
That is the Power to Live On. - To love your neighbor as yourself is Ministry.
That's a Plan to Live Out. - To go and make disciples is Evangelism or Missions.
It gives you a Purpose to Live For. - To baptize... is to assimilate into Fellowship.
You have People to Live With. - To teach them to obey everything is Discipleship or Maturity.
