What does worship mean?

Why is there a worship gathering?

From the earliest days of the Church, people have gathered together for worship. Cedar Grove values the large group gathering because it enables us to follow the example of the early church, which is found primarily in the book of Acts. Followers of Jesus would meet together to learn, to pray, to encourage one another, and to care for the needs of others. Worshipping together reminds us that God is to be the center of our lives, and that we are not alone in our faith journey with Jesus. Life is hard enough, and we don't have to go it alone.

How can I meet more people at CGCC?

Developing solid Biblical relationships with others is a very important part of CGCC's DNA. That's why we offer several venues for visitors to meet new people and get plugged in to church life. These opportunities include:

Adult Education - Click here for our current Sunday morning class schedule.

Small Groups - Click here for more information about small groups

Discovery Class - This is a class offered periodically to those who wish to get better acquainted with the staff of CGCC, as well as learn more about our mission and vision.  New classes are being scheduled. If you are interested, click here to let us know.

Coffee Half-Hour - Each Sunday morning in between our two services, coffee and a variety of other hot drinks are served in our lobby.  This is a great time to meet new people and connect with old friends.  Once in a while, you might even find a doughnut next to the coffee!

Will I be asked to give money?

No. It is true, however, that the Cedar Grove family includes giving as part of our worship.  In no way should visitors feel any obligation to participate in the offering. You are valued and are welcome as our guest. The Bible says that giving is an act of worship that should come from the heart, rather than any external pressure (2 Cor. 9:6).

Will I be embarassed?

No. We care about you, and we desire that you feel embraced by the CGCC family, but you will not be singled out in any way. Our hope is that you will come to feel the same way about our church that we do: we are one big family trying to live like Jesus wants us to live.
